Tours & Opening Hours

The Castle and the grounds are open to the public during the summer months only. Visitors can choose to visit the house and gardens, or gardens only. The tour of the castle is a guided tour lasting approximately 30 minutes where the tour guide will explain the history of the castle and show the visitors a variety of different rooms. The tour party will also be shown the famous Temple of Isis located in the old Castle basement and dungeon.

For those visitors wishing to see the gardens, notable attractions include the formal Italian gardens, kitchen garden, and world famous yew walk which is estimated to be over 600 years old. We also have a brand new adventure playground and have recently restored the 17th Century water features. There are also a number of ‘champion’ trees as well as rare shrubs and flora. Visitors can also walk though the ‘Wilderness’ woodland paths and view the ornamental lake and old turbine house.
